You must declare all firearms to a border services officer when you arrive at the border and provide any documents required.
An officer may check to see if you have stored your firearms properly for transport. They will also verify and review your documents associated with said firearms.
As a rule, non-residents may bring a non-restricted rifle or shotgun (barrel must be 18 inches minimum) into Canada for approved purposes such as hunting or target shooting.
